Digital Storytelling in an Online EFL Course: Influences on Speaking, Vocabulary, and Cognitive Load

Digital Storytelling (DS) is an alternative instructional tool for language teaching to make the relevant process more engaging through use of technology and facilitate effective learning. This single case study explored impact DS in online EFL lesson on speaking vocabulary achievement consideration cognitive load effect. The utilized mixed-design analysis strategies as quantitative tests (pre-and post-vocabulary test, evaluation rubric, scale) with 33 Turkish learners studying at tertiary level who participated English course interviews 21 volunteers. Quantitative findings revealed increased after improved English-speaking skills terms spoken grammar, use, fluency coherence, pronunciation repeated three stories, despite high due technical incompetency participants. In addition, results obtained from qualitative data match positive evaluations error correction, sentence formation, pronunciation, self-study. can also be effectively used education by eliminating drawbacks students’ digital level. this are expected shed light practitioners aiming learning improving achievement.
